Musée Raymond Poincaré – Le Clos-Poincaré

The departmental museum is installed(settled) at the ground floor of the old(former) summer residence of Raymond Poincaré, built between 1906 and 1913 in a style neo-Louis XIII by the architect from Nancy Bourgon. Born in Bar-le-Duc in 1860, Raymond Poincaré was 6 times Secretary and President of the Republic from 1913 till 1920\. Graphic documents, presidential presents, caricatures and personal objects evoke life and career(quarry) of this meusien famous.
The residence of Raymond Poincaré possesses a graduated garden which dominates the valley of the Meuse(Maas), the Garden of Clos-Poincaré. Composition proposes set(group) of regular flowerbeds(orchestras), lined with boxwood. An incredible concrete(watertight) staircase imitating logs allows to reach the old(former) birdhouses.
