If Lay-Saint-Christophe is nicknamed «the village in thousand fountains», it is good because the water is there omnipresent, canalised to feed many fountains and wash houses from the 18th century.
Visit will begin on the place(square) located at the beginning of the street Saint-Arnou (n ° 2) at 10 h 30.

About the location

Lay-Saint-Christophe
2 rue Saint-Arnou, 54690 Lay-Saint-Christophe
  • Meurthe-et-Moselle
  • Grand Est
The village of Lay-Saint-Christophe is built on a coteau at the foot of whom(which) flows(sinks) Amezule. He(It) contains two parts(parties) adjoining: hillside Haute-Lay and Basse-Lay down below. The old(former) Gallo-Roman village of Layum became, in Merovingian time(period), residence of the mayors of the palace of Austrasie. The street Saint-Arnou calls back(reminds) that the future bishop of Metz, saint Arnould, was born towards 580 in the castle of Haute-Lay.
