Free visit "Behind the scenes of the Auditorium of Lyons".
Monolith of prestressed concrete and of steel, the Auditorium imposes its silhouette at the heart of the district of the Part-God. Conceived(Designed) by Charles Delfante, town planner and chief architect of the Part-God, and Henry Pottier, Grand Prix(Prize) of Rome, the Auditorium was inaugurated February 14th, 1975 afterwards more than three years of titanic works. Beyond the architectural prowess which establishes(constitutes) the edification of such building(ship), the contrast between the woodworks of the room and the raw(gross) concrete from the outside confers on it a particular(special) aura.
This room of 2100 places(squares) has unanimous support as regards its comfort and the ideal report(relationship) which its shape of Roman theatre creates between the stage(scene) and the public. The installation in 1977 of the organ of the Palais de Chaillot, located in bottom of stage(scene) and protected by two huge wooden curtains, finished the grandiose and unique(only) aspect of the room. Having called Auditorium Maurice-Ravel in its construction, the building(ship) benefits since 2012 from the label Heritage of the XXth century.
