The church Saint Laurent(Lawrence) of Aubenas is built at the heart of the old woman-city. It is almost entirely enclosed in ambient constructions. His(Her,Its) facade of entrance(entry) earths up roughly on the street without real square, without announcing either as most buildings of his(her,its) importance. A second lateral portal(gate) is so discreet as they pass in front of(come before) without seeing it. It would be possible to think of an entrance(entry) of insignificant building. Only a small statue of the Virgin(Virgo) above the portal(gate) announces the vocation of the place. The main facade, of neo-Romanic style of the XIXth century, resumes(takes back) artillery aesthetics of Romance architecture without embellishment nor unreliable interpretation(performance). The inside of the church is very dark because it is fitted tightly round of constructions on highly-rated, so only stained-glass windows partly high of the nave bring a bit clarity(brightness). The chorus(choir) includes rich stalls and retables baroque style resulting(coming) from the old(former) chapel of the middle school(college) of the Jesuits of the city, destroyed at the beginning of the XXth century. All these elements are wooden dark left with nude without stuccos nor gilding. Fine and delicate forums(stands) take off between the impressive pillars which support the heavy vault with crossing of ogives. The church is opened every day and free and free visit.
