The municipality of Chanu dedicated a retrospective in 2016 to the sculptor Victor Leharivel Durocher to memorialise the bicentenary of its birth in the municipality.

To allow a wider public to discover this artist adorned gifted, the museum receives this exhibition(exposure). The work of the sculptor, so civil as religious, should finally find there the gratitude(recognition) which it deserves, as high as the success which he(it) met in his/her lifetime. He is the author, between others, of the exceptional decoration(set) of the basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Sées, listed(classified) in conformance with(for) Historic monuments.

Located at the heart of the district of the cathedral of Sées, the departmental museum of religious art receives many works of art blest outcomes(exits) of the parish churches of the Orne: shrines silver reliquaries of the old(former) abbey of Saint-Evroult (XIIth century), the liturgical comb from ivory of saint Thomas Becket (XIIth century), the silk chasuble and embroidered velvet thought of Carrouges (XV and XVIIth centuries), ornaments of the brotherhoods of charity (XIXth century) but also paintings(boards), statues of saints, reliquaries...
