Guided tour of temporary exhibition(exposure) "Eve or crazy temptation"
Organised from June 23rd till October 15th, 2017, this exhibition(exposure), led(driven) in partnership with the Louvre museum, will put in honour one of the centerpieces of the permanent collections of the museum Rolin, the lintel of Eve's Temptation. This work is a part of sculpted reliefs which adorned the cathedral Saint-Lazare of Autun realisation of which is attributed(awarded) to the artist Gislebertus (by 1130).
Of an exceptional originality both by her symbolism, her shape, her aestheticism and her future, Eve d' Autun is internationally known and was greeted by the biggest(greatest) artists. This head - of work of the Romanesque art lived numerous events: he was hidden during 100 years, almost left to private collectors, in the United States, to the Louvre, to join finally the Rolin museum.
Presented in the Burgundian medieval rooms of the Louvre museum until last February, this key figure of the museum autunois made the object in the summer, 2016 of a meticulous restoration(catering). It is a bright work and without a wrinkle in spite of its 900 years that will be presented during exhibition(exposure) Eve or crazy temptation.
Exhibition(Exposure) will explore the themes of slept Eve, since its origin in Antiquity up to Renaissance. It will be also a chance to present place(square) and role as the sculpture occupied on the lateral portal(gate) of the cathedral Saint-Lazare, no welcome(reception) of the pilgrims come to collect itself in the grave of saint Lazare. This monumental reliquary in the shape of church will be explained to the public who will be able to admire also the shroud of saint Lazare which is exposed(explained) because of its big(great) fragility only every eight or ten years. An explicative digital support(medium) will be devoted to this Arabic silk dating of 1007.
