Join the EMBL Archive in celebration of International Archives Week 2024 (3-9 June)!
The EMBL Archive and Records Management is thrilled to celebrate the sixth International Archives Week (#IAW2024) from June 3rd to June 9th, 2024, coinciding with the EMBL 50th Anniversary celebrations. Join us for three engaging website blogs highlighting the significance of archives for EMBL's history and development, as well as the importance of archives for scientific organisations.
We're preparing three blogs to introduce European Molecular Biology Laboratory- EMBL staff and the public to our latest archival collection: that of DG Fotis Kafatos, EMBL's third Director General. This collection is one of our biggest and showcases the impact of scientific leaders like Kafatos. The second blog will focus on our Oral Histories collections, sharing personal insights from individuals who have shaped EMBL. Lastly, we'll highlight the EMBL-EBI collections, celebrating 30 years since EMBL-EBI's establishment. Our goal is to preserve EMBL's heritage, history and memory.
At the end of the week, on Friday 7 June at 13:00, all EMBL Heidelberg staff are invited to the EMBL Heidelberg Cafeteria for a hands-on archive experience. We want to give EMBL staff the opportunity to discover the treasure trove of historical material, from lab books to stunning photographs and even a Nobel Prize!
