The Friends of the Museums join this event by showing the paintings illustrating scenes of human madness as the artists conceived them with the opera arias they illustrated. The 'Medea' by Delacroix sung by Maria Callas illustrates the murderous madness and infanticide that is the worst of human follies. From Bellini to Donizetti the music will allow to bring back what it causes in the viewer: fear, silence, the despair of mothers and the innocence of children. Goya is immured in deafness but he denounces the horrors of war and the unreason of man, a source of inspiration for Benjamin Britten’s 'War Requiem'.

Les Amis des Musées s’associent à cet évènement en montrant les tableaux illustrant des scènes de folie humaine telle que les artistes les concevaient avec les airs d’opéra qu’ils illustrèrent. La « Médée » de Delacroix chantée par Maria Callas illustre la folie meurtrière et l’infanticide qui est la pire des folies humaines. De Bellini à Donizetti la musique va permettre de faire remonter ce qu’elle provoque chez le spectateur : la peur, le silence, le désespoir des mères et l’innocence des enfants. Goya est emmuré dans une surdité mais il dénonce les horreurs de la guerre et la déraison de l’homme, source d’inspiration du « War Requiem » de Benjamin Britten.

De Vrienden van de Musea doen mee aan dit evenement door schilderijen te tonen die taferelen van de menselijke waanzin illustreren zoals de kunstenaars ze oprichtten met de opera arias die ze illustreerden. De 'Medea' van Delacroix gezongen door Maria Callas illustreert de moorddadige waanzin en kindermoord die de ergste van de menselijke dwaasheid is. Van Bellini tot Donizetti de muziek zal het mogelijk maken om terug te brengen wat het in de kijker veroorzaakt: Angst, stilte, wanhoop van moeders en de onschuld van kinderen. Goya is onveranderlijk in doofheid, maar hij veroordeelt de verschrikkingen van de oorlog en de onredelijkheid van de mens, een inspiratiebron voor Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem'.
