Moving through tenderness, fusion, dependency, violence — with perhaps the aim of reaching a fragile state of reconciliation – Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés is a pas de deux, a love duet on the edge of collapse, a sensual and ambivalent embrace that explores the extreme territories of desire. With this second creation, following LoveLettersOrNot (2021), Bast Hippocrate reveals a choreographic language that feels utterly raw and intimate, confirming his emergence on the international scene.
“I wanted to understand how two bodies can hold each other without losing themselves.” Within a fragmented soundscape haunted by recorded breaths and traces of pop music, the performers drift between surrender, euphoria and dizziness. Shaped in part by the experience of chemsex, the piece transforms the reality of gay intimacy into a physical, blazing and deeply shareable fable.
A Swiss, Afro-descendant and queer artist trained at La Manufacture after an autodidactic path, Bast Hippocrate has presented his work at Swiss Dance Days, Santarcangelo, the Swiss Selection in Avignon and Spring Forward 2026.

Traverser la tendresse, la fusion, la dépendance, la violence — et peut-être atteindre une forme fragile de réconciliation. Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés est un pas de deux, un duo amoureux au bord de la rupture, une étreinte sensuelle et ambivalente qui explore les zones extrêmes du désir. Avec cette deuxième création, après LoveLettersOrNot (2021), Bast Hippocrate impose une écriture chorégraphique à fleur de peau et signe sa révélation internationale.
« Je voulais comprendre comment deux corps peuvent se tenir sans se perdre. » Dans un paysage sonore fragmenté, hanté de souffles enregistrés et de réminiscences pop, les interprètes dérivent entre abandon, euphorie et vertige. Suggérant l’expérience du chemsex, la pièce transforme le vécu d’une intimité gay en une fable physique, brûlante et profondément partageable.
Artiste suisse, afrodescendant et queer formé à La Manufacture après un parcours autodidacte, Bast Hippocrate a présenté son travail aux Swiss Dance Days, à Santarcangelo, à la Sélection Suisse en Avignon ou encore au festival Spring Forward.
