What if the future of agriculture lay in its traditions? Drawing on his own memories alongside accounts gathered from around the world, Indian artist Pankaj Tiwari invites us to rethink our relationship with farming and ecology. With a critical and deeply informed perspective, he examines the technological transformations that have reshaped ecosystems and the daily lives of farmers since the rise of neoliberalism in the 1990s. By bringing these realities vividly to life, he reveals a constellation of inspiring and sustainable practices.
Originally from Balrampur in northern India and now based in Amsterdam, Pankaj Tiwari is a curator, performer and writer whose work seeks to decolonise ecology and imagine forms of political theatre that can speak to the widest possible audience. Rich in emotional intelligence, The Harvest of Broken Promises weaves together oral accounts, folk tales, music and ancient myths to create a work of rare depth and humanity.

En plongeant dans ses propres souvenirs, mêlés à des témoignages recueillis aux quatre coins du globe, l’artiste indien Pankaj Tiwari interroge notre manière de voir le travail de la terre et l’écologie. Lui-même porte un regard critique et documenté sur les progrès techniques qui bouleversent les écosystèmes et le quotidien des paysan·nes depuis les années 1990 et l’avènement du néolibéralisme. En donnant à entendre et à voir leurs réalités, il fait émerger une constellation de pratiques respectueuses et inspirantes.
Originaire de Balrampur, au nord de l’Inde, Pankaj Tiwari est aujourd’hui basé à Amsterdam. Curateur, performeur et auteur, il s’attache à décoloniser l’écologie et à imaginer un théâtre politique capable de s’adresser au plus grand nombre.
