Festi’Terroir is a festival designed to promote the local produce of the Geneva region, showcasing not only the producers from the canton of Geneva but also the food processors
Festi’Terroir, an annual late-summer festival, is a market event nestled in the heart of the Parc des Bastions. Over the course of a weekend, you’ll have the chance to meet the people behind sustainable agriculture and food production in the canton of Geneva, and to discover and sample their produce.
Friday evening — Opening drinks reception!
Fourteen estates and wineries, the Distillerie de Saconnex d’Arve, six independent breweries from the ABIG (Association des Brasseries Indépendantes de Genève), producers of all kinds of drinks, as well as food stalls will welcome you in the centre of the Parc des Bastions. Two concerts featuring local music will set the tone for the evening.
Saturday & Sunday — Local Produce Market
Over the weekend, a large market set up along the central avenue will give you the chance to sample and buy fruit and vegetables, bread and pastries, cheeses, cereals and seeds, honey, syrups, flowers and plants, and a myriad of other products from the Geneva region: a unique opportunity to meet the producers in person.
Numerous organisations and institutions linked to agriculture, biodiversity and sustainable food will also be present at the market, offering you the chance to find out more and, for the little ones, to learn through play in the many workshops on offer.
Food & Drink
To tempt your taste buds, 14 food stalls – ranging from street food to bistronomy – will be offering dishes originating from or inspired by various regions of the world (Europe, the Aegean, Armenia, China, Japan, Peru, and more). All dishes are prepared almost exclusively using seasonal produce from Geneva. At each stall, a chart showing the origins of the produce will let you see the journey from field to plate!
In addition, stalls run by local producers will offer takeaway dishes to showcase their produce: crêpes with Geneva goat’s cheese, kebabs, tomato bruschetta, and pizzas and focaccias baked on the spot in a mobile oven!
And for dessert? The Fix Café Mobile will be serving espresso with a biscuit; you’ll also find local ice creams and sorbets, as well as vegan ice cream made with hemp milk, GRTA churros, and all sorts of cakes, pastries and Viennese pastries.
The Association of Independent Breweries of Geneva will be running its usual bar, featuring the breweries L’Agneau à Trois Pattes, Brasserie du Mât, Brasserie du Père Jakob, Brasserie de la Pièce, La Cave Microbrasserie and Brasserie du Virage.
A wide range of non-alcoholic drinks will be on offer, such as blackberry lemonade, homemade iced tea, fruit kefir, rose syrup, apple juice and ginger slush.
To allow visitors to quench their thirst free of charge, a water fountain installed by SIG in the centre of the park will be accompanied by self-service cups.
All stalls adhere to Festi’Terroir’s Sustainable Food Charter.
Tableware is reusable and deposit-free to minimise waste generated during the event.
Music programme
Once again this year, the programme has been curated by Robin Girod of Cheptel Records.
From Friday at 6.30 pm until Sunday at 4.00 pm, Robin will take us on a musical journey through Geneva, ranging from French chanson to boogie, via Angelina-style nostalgia, a glittering dancing trio and folk music archivists!
