Clive Holden: Composition for a set, or The Spirit of Games
Clive Holden is interested in the representation of celebrity and fame, the conditions of our gaze in relation to these types of images, and the gaze of his fellow photographers and filmmakers. With its central projection specifically designed for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the exhibition consists of a digital, video and photographic installation combining an unprecedented order, «UNSUNG»and other works by the artist that give a conceptual context to the commission. The artist works from archival images related to past Olympic and Paralympic Games. The spectacular images of athletic gestures, the dramatic potential of faces, are staged, looped, mixed and transformed to create visual rhymes.
Curators: Catherine Bédard and Steven Bulger
With the support of the Canadian Paralympic Committee and of theNational Film Board of Canada.
Art Film Program – The bodies in motion
In relation to the exhibition “Composition pour un ensemble”, the Canadian Cultural Centre is presenting a selection of films from the latest editions of the Montreal International Art Film Festival. The programming of the “Corps en mouvement” is eclectic, sensitive and resilient, open to the world and to Indigenous cultures. The 9 films screened give us a glimpse through poetry, dance, art and movement, the possibility of emancipation and self-affirmation.
Two screening sessions of the selection (72 minutes) at 19h and 20h30.
In partnership with the Montreal International Film Festival.
As part of the programming of the Cultural Olympiad of Paris 2024.
