The Gaia satellite is currently mapping our Galaxy, the Milky Way, with unprecedented accurracy measuring positions, distances and motions of over one billion stars.

The first data obtained by Gaia are now available, and the CDS provides tools to explore this data mine.

Discover how difficult it is to measure precisely the distance to stars, and further objects like other galaxies. With the Aladin software, you will be able to explore the data released by Gaia on April 25 2018.
