Abstract
Precision medicine is a key component of cancer therapeutic management. Le Centre Eugène Marquis, regional cancer centre deployed a sequencing platform in 2024 and implemented several gene panels to characterize tumors, including:
• the search for therapeutic targets
• the identification of resistance mechanisms
• diagnostic orientation when tumors are undifferentiated
More targeted tests performed by dPCR are used either for urgent diagnostics (searching for a mutation in a specific gene) or personalized monitoring.
Finally, analyses using very large panels make it possible to detect alterations that are not routinely investigated at diagnosis, with the aim of enrolling patients with advanced stage disease into clinical trials.
Mutation testing is performed on fixed tissues (FFPE) or liquid biopsies, using both NGS and targeted dPCR assays.
