Eingebettet auf einem Vorgebirge am Ufer der Garonne, gegenüber dem Anwesen von Malagar, das sich auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite befindet, bietet die Kirche Saint-Saturnin de Toulenne ein außergewöhnliches Panorama und ein reiches architektonisches Zeugnis.
📜 Ein bisschen Geschichte
Die ursprüngliche Kirche, die in der romanischen Zeit (11. Jahrhundert) über dem Hafen errichtet wurde, hat heute nur noch ihre gewölbte Apsis.
Abgesehen von der heutigen Sakristei aus dem 18. Jahrhundert stammen alle Erweiterungen und Innendekorationen der Kirche aus dem 19. Jahrhundert:
- Hinzufügen von zwei Seitenbögen in 1838 mit lamellierten und bemalten Decken,
- Gewölbe des Schiffes und Durchstich eines axialen Eingangs,
- Bau des neugotischen Glockenturms in den Jahren 1851-1852 auf Initiative des Pfarrers Dupuy (restauriert 2010).

Nestled on a promontory along the Garonne, facing the domain of Malagar located on the opposite side, the church Saint-Saturnin de Toulenne offers an exceptional panorama and a rich architectural testimony.
📜 A bit of history
The primitive church, built above the port during the Romanesque period (11th century), only retains today its arched apse in cul-de-four.
Apart from the current sacristy, dating from the 18th century, all the enlargements and interior decorations of the church date from the 19th century:
- addition of two aisles in 1838 with wainscoted and painted ceilings,
- vaulting of the nave and drilling of an axial entrance,
- construction of the neo-Gothic bell tower in 1851-1852, on the initiative of Curé Dupuy (restored in 2010).

Incastonata su un promontorio sulle rive della Garonna, di fronte alla tenuta di Malagar situata sul versante opposto, la chiesa di Saint-Saturnin de Toulenne offre un panorama eccezionale e una ricca testimonianza architettonica.
📜 Un po' di storia
La chiesa primitiva, costruita sopra il porto in epoca romanica (XI secolo), conserva oggi solo l'abside a volta in cupola.
Oltre all'attuale sacrestia, risalente al XVIII secolo, tutti gli ampliamenti e le decorazioni interne della chiesa risalgono al XIX secolo:
- aggiunta di due navate laterali nel 1838 con soffitti lamellari e dipinti,
- arcata della navata e foratura di un ingresso assiale,
- costruzione del campanile neogotico nel 1851-1852, su iniziativa del parroco Dupuy (restaurato nel 2010).

Nichée sur un promontoire en bord de Garonne, face au domaine de Malagar situé sur le versant opposé, l’église Saint-Saturnin de Toulenne offre un panorama exceptionnel et un riche témoignage architectural.
📜 Un peu d’histoire
L’église primitive, édifiée au-dessus du port à l’époque romane (XIᵉ siècle), ne conserve aujourd’hui que son abside voûtée en cul-de-four.
Hormis la sacristie actuelle, datant du XVIIIᵉ siècle, l’ensemble des agrandissements et décors intérieurs de l’église date du XIXᵉ siècle :
- ajout de deux bas-côtés en 1838 avec plafonds lambrissés et peints,
- voûtement de la nef et percement d'une entrée axiale,
- construction du clocher néogothique en 1851-1852, à l’initiative du curé Dupuy (restauré en 2010).

Enclavada en un promontorio a orillas del Garona, frente al dominio de Malagar situado en la vertiente opuesta, la iglesia de Saint-Saturnin de Toulenne ofrece una panorámica excepcional y un rico testimonio arquitectónico.
📜 Un poco de historia
La iglesia primitiva, construida sobre el puerto en época románica (siglo XI), conserva hoy solo su ábside abovedado en cubos de horno.
Aparte de la sacristía actual, que data del siglo XVIII, el conjunto de ampliaciones y decoraciones interiores de la iglesia datan del siglo XIX:
- adición de dos laterales en 1838 con techos revestidos y pintados,
- bóveda de la nave y perforación de una entrada axial,
- construcción del campanario neogótico en 1851-1852, por iniciativa del cura Dupuy (restaurado en 2010).
