Maner coz Kerézellec
Place of residence of the Huon family of Kerézellec, the old manor, with its domestic chapel and outbuildings already existed at the beginning of the 15th century. The buildings threatened ruin in 1580 and in the 17th century, a campaign of works (1610-1630) allowed the restoration of old walls and an enlargement of the manor. The field of the dovecot (now disappeared) and a mill with its fish tank, are located not far from the farm of the gate. On the Tréflévénez estate, about twenty other tenant farms were completed at that time, the Kerézellec estate.
The archive fund (Chartrier de Kerézellec) tells us that the family also owned other properties in Saint Frégant (the manor of Lesguern), in Hanvec (the mill of Bodrézal), in Tréhou (location: la Roche noire), in Plouvorn (the old manor of Kerillio), in Santec (the manor of Kerabret). In 1650 Alain Huon de Kerézellec was made a knight of the order of Saint Michel.
The family owned Maner coz until 1772, when the estate passed, by marriage, to the family of L'Estang du Rusquec. The branch of Kerézellec was thus extinguished by merging into the family of L'Estang du Rusquec who occupied the manor until the construction of the castle of Kerézellec in 1854 and the old mansion became a farm that lasted until the years 2000.
However, a younger branch, the Huon family of Kerillio, developed after the revolution, in New South Wales (current Australia), then in New Zealand (the Huon are numerous at the antipodes).
In the town of Tréflévénez, the parish church bears many traces of the presence of the Huon family who did significant expansion work and owned preeminences there. It is a jewel that must be visited because it has been remarkably restored and decorated. A project to create stained glass windows, supported by the Heritage Foundation, is currently underway.
A Maner coz, a booklet, available on site (20€), relates the 5 centuries of history of Kerézellec and the progress of the safeguarding and renovation project (plan about an hour for the historical visit of the site).
