Located on the site of the former botanical garden of the Navy, transformed into a public garden in 1825, the Alexandre 1er garden was completely renovated in 2020 as part of the development of an eco-district. The garden offers an island of greenery of 20,000 m 2, weaving links between the urban islands that surround it by a network of paths punctuated with statues of architects or regional poets. More winding paths are lined with lush vegetation, Australian and South African or Provençal plants. Inspired by the epistolary exchanges between the gardeners from Toulon and the plant garden, the landscapers wanted to evoke the botanical garden of the Navy and the journey of plants. This is how a water pathway accompanies themed gardens: citrus garden, textiles, nourishing, tea... equipped with a very educational signage. Venerable subjects were also showcased, including the bald cypress planted in 1797, the false pepper trees, the pittosporums...
