The museum Jean Aicard-Paulin Bertrand (M.A.B) is located in La Garde, between Mount Coudon and the sea. It is housed in the family home «Les Lauriers roses», which testifies to the life, work and personality of the author of «Gaspard de Besse». The villa «Les Lauriers roses» is built in a typical Provencal style. It is located in the heart of a large park of six hectares, created by Jean Aicard, who lived there until 1919\. On his death, the writer passes the estate to his friend, the painter Paulin Bertrand. In 1960, the widow of the latter bequeathed the property to the city of Toulon to make a museum, today labeled «Musée de France» and «Maison d'écrivain». The museum reveals the universe of Jean Aicard.
