Perched on its rocky spur, the castle dominates the city and the surrounding landscape for more than 1,000 years. Fortress in the Middle Ages, ducal residence since the Renaissance, it now houses a museum. Emblem of the city, it is currently the subject of a vast renovation project to make it a tourist and cultural hotspot.
