Founded in 1593 by Henry IV, the oldest botanical garden in France extends over nearly 5 hectares in the heart of Montpellier. Attached to the Faculty of Medicine, this space once entirely dedicated to research and teaching continues to attract researchers from around the world. The Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier was classified as a site in 1982 and protected as a Historic Monument since 3 September 1992.
