About the location

Musée Renoir

19 Chemin des Collettes, 06800 Cagnes-sur-Mer, France

Alpes-Maritimes

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Renoir had come to seek 'his' light on the French Riviera, and it was in the Domaine des Collettes, now a garden, that he found it. This light that bathes secular olive trees, illuminates again and forever his paintings throughout the world. Disconnecting during a walk in this garden of the Domaine des Collettes is to understand why Renoir chose to settle there. Everyone can immerse themselves in the intimacy of the great master by soaking in the atmosphere of this olive grove facing the panorama offered by the medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, the sea and the surrounding hills. This garden is labeled 'Refuge LPO' with its 36 species of birds recorded in the heart of the area in which the city has recreated the vegetable garden of Renoir, behind the Ferme des Collettes. The garden of the Renoir museum is also the 'theatre' for outdoor events such as 'Un soir chez Renoir', 'Histoires de Dire' or even the 'Déjeuner sur l'Herbe'...
