For this edition of the Heritage Days, the association Agir pour Vieux-Ferrette is pleased to collaborate with the Sundgauvien Museum of Lovers and Heritage of Werentzhouse.
Often nicknamed "the smallest museum in the world", this unique place, nestled in an old dairy of only 19 m 2, yet full of treasures. It preserves an exceptional collection of old postcards of lovers as well as a photographic fund of 22,000 photos and more than 1,200 binders dedicated to the villages and families of Sundgau.
At the heart of this partnership, we welcome Geneviève Grimler, born in Vieux-Ferrette into the Gerster family. One of the founders of the museum, passionate for 38 years, she is a true living memory of the Sundgauvian heritage.
She patiently gathered, classified and saved about 1,200 old photos and postcards of Vieux-Ferrette. She will tell us about her many meetings with the village elders and wishes to share her enthusiasm, passion and nostalgia for these men and women of the earth.
Work in the fields, small trades and religious festivals then punctuated daily life to the sound of the Angelus.
As the author of several books, including Le Noël dans le Sundgau, Les petits métiers du Sundgau and Il était une fois le Élégant Zegla, Geneviève will be exhibiting for these Heritage Days a valuable selection of postcards and photographs from the Old Town.Ferrette, the fruit of a patient work of collection and transmission carried out for more than three decades.
Presented at the Foyer de Vieux-Ferrette, this exhibition offers a moving journey through time and allows us to rediscover the faces, places and moments of life that have shaped the identity of our village.
