The conference will focus on the history of the company International flavors and fragances (IFF) and its production in Bois-Colombes.
In 1912, Albert Schwarz set up a French branch of the Dutch company Polak et Schwarz in Bois-Colombes (47 rue Victor-Hugo), which has been producing and marketing fruit species since 1880. Despite great difficulties during the Second World War, the Colombian wood company managed to maintain its activity and specialized in the manufacture of essences and raw materials for perfumery. In 1958, the company Polak and Schwarz merged with the company Van Amerigen Haebler to found the company International flavors and fragrances (IFF), which designs and produces aromatic raw materials, perfuming compositions intended for cosmetic companies or industrial uses (detergents, washing liquors, etc.) and flavouring compositions used in food products. The Bois‐Colombes site, specialized in research for the design of aromas, moved in 2005 to establish itself in Neuilly-sur‐Seine.
