Inaugurated in 2013 by the President of the Republic, the Pierrefitte-sur-Seine site is the largest archive center in Europe. It is located in the heart of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, near the University of Paris 8. This ambitious project illustrates the State’s desire to include a new site in the development of greater Paris, focusing on accessibility and cultural democratization. Its conservation capacity is more than 350 linear km of archives, all of which will be occupied by 2027\. An extension project is underway to expand the conservation stores.
