At the heart of the Grande Champagne, in Cognac, the gardens of Chaigne, thought and created by Bambi and Philippe Sourdille from 2002, serve as a setting for a beautiful house charentaise. It is in place of an old winery that this elegant plant composition comes into being. Since the 2010s, different owners have succeeded each other with the constant desire to maintain the spirit of the place. Several strong elements come to structure and highlight the delicacy of this creation. Charmille, an alignment of ifs or gleditsias guide the gaze, while, further on, a succession of imposing basins, created by the German artists Serge Bottagisio and Agnès Decoux, presents water lilies. In other spaces, a remarkable water path with geometric shapes brings a touch of sound, while in the vegetable garden, fruit trees embellish raised squares. The vegetal palette of white, pink and blue harmoniously highlights the shades of green of this open park and dialogue with the surrounding vineyards.
