Église Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin
Place Saint-Thomas d'Aquin, 75007 Paris, France
The church of the Dominican convent was built in 1631 on the former site of the garden of Queen Margot. It is not 'oriented' and was then located in the axis of an alley of lime trees, facing the Hotel de Luynes. Convent and church are dismantled in 1791\. Most of the works presented in the church of Saint Thomas come from Napoleon’s "roundups": Saint Jerome of Guercino and the Assumption of the Virgin by Salvatore Rosa, or from orders placed by the State at the beginning of the 19th century to several "Rome prizes": Picot "death of Sapphira", Pallière “Saint Peter healing the leper” and Abel de Pujol “martyr of Saint Stephen”. Blondel first painted the wall of the Saint Louis chapel, then the side chapels and the dome in 1854.
