XVITH - XIXTH century Perched on the rock dominating the Saône, strong Saint Jean occupies a strategical position north of Lyons. The bastion of the XVIth century is the last element of the surrounding wall(speaker) sponsored(financed) by Louis XII in 1512\. Military place(square) in the XIXth century, strong Saint Jean is a part of the belt of fortifications established around the city after napoleonic period. Having located on the hill of the Cross - Russet, this exceptional site d' 1,6 hectare hidden behind ramparts is since 2001 property of Ministry of the Economy, of the finances and of industry. Realised by the firm of architects Pierre Vurpas, an architectural quality project, in perfect adequacy with the programme defined by the administration; harmoniously associated contemporary buildings(ships) with patrimonial all the XVIth and XIXth centuries. Respectful of heritage, renovation is sober. The stone, omnipresent, is next(goes alongside) to the wood and to the glass of new constructions. The part(party) devoted to training(formation) extends over three thousand square metres. The renovation of strong Saint Jean received an appointment(naming) as part of the 10th Price(Prize) "Architecture and client" put back(handed) on Thursday, May 19th, 2005\. Strong Saint Jean shelters the establishment of Lyon of the national School of Public finances which is the national operator of the Department of Public finances in charge of managing preparations for competitions and assuring(insuring) the training(formation) of the set(group) of these agents.
