Etienne Terrus (1857-1922) is a painter born in Elne, undisputed master of watercolor. The permanent collection of his works, presented on the first floor of the museum, evokes the major stages of his life and his friendships with great local artists or those passing through the region like Maillol, Matisse or Derain. The new exhibition installed on the ground floor traces the origins of the bishopric of Elne. It is documented by an exceptional series of seven unpublished sarcophagi.
