Redrawing migration routes. Days of the Arab comic strip and contemporary Mediterranean mobilities
This event, led by Laura Odasso, lecturer at the LIAgE (Laboratoire Interculturalités, Apprentissages, Genres, Expériences), in partnership with the Bibliothèque universitaire de Paris 8, will take place from October 12 to 16, 2026 at the University Library and the Maison de la Recherche de l'Université Paris 8. It is part of the Saison Méditerranée at the University of Paris 8.
At the crossroads of research, graphic creation and scientific mediation, these days propose to explore how contemporary Mediterranean migrations and mobilities are told, represented and shaped through comics. By bringing together researchers, artists, book professionals and students, the project questions comics as an object of research, as an artistic language and as a medium for transmitting knowledge.
The event will include two round tables open to the public, two days of workshops for master’s students, an exhibition of Arab and Mediterranean artists, as well as a time of projection and promotion of student productions. It thus highlights an approach fully in line with the identity of Paris 8, by articulating research, creation and dialogue with society.
