Within the framework of the “AGEC” law (anti-waste and for the circular economy) and for two years, Grand Chambéry and Grand Lac have been experimenting with and gradually deploying food waste collection at home. In order to meet this specific treatment need, Savoie Déchets launched a semi-industrial composting pilot unit on the Champlat platform in Chambéry-le-Vieux in May 2022\. After several months of continuous inputs from local households and collective catering, the “first cuvées” of compost were produced. These excellent quality composts have passed the regulatory controls with flying colours and have also been awarded “organic” status.
