The church was built in the 11th or 12th century (declarations of the parish priest to the diocese in 1921 and 1929); built after 1042, the date on which the founder of the House of Savoy, Humbert I called "aux Blanches Mains", cedes to the priory Saint Laurent de Grenoble, dependent on the Abbey of St. Chaffre en Velay **, the churches of the priory of Les Echelles “rebuilt or not” after the invasion of the Sarrazins. The ecclesia Sancti Christophori-de-Scalis (and its annex of Saint Jean de Couz) is part of the lot.
The cartulaire of Grenoble mentions the building in 1108\. The bell-porch of the current building is dated, according to an expert, from the beginning of the 14th century; it would therefore belong to a third church that burned in the 19th century (late 1868 or 1869).
A heritage initiative was launched 10 years ago by the municipality and the Christophoros association in partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine. • ACT 1 in 2013: safeguarding/restoration of the bell to
