Writing in the garden of the Retreat
The garden of the Retreat is composed of 4 gardens: a subtropical garden, a dry garden, a palm grove, a Mediterranean garden.
After having gone through it, observed, listened to, felt... we suggest you tell it, play with the words to translate emotions and sensations.
This workshop mixes exploration of the garden, creative writing and reading, giving free rein to the imagination. It will be hosted by Sandra Belland, writing workshop facilitator and author of the Ré_Création association.
Planned fallback in case of bad weather.

Between Rue Élie Fréron and Rue des Moves, protected by the city walls, the Jardin de la Retraite covers more than 5000 m2\. Enclosed by walls, this garden is calm and calls for serenity. Originally, this space not built but surrounded by houses and inside the enclosed city, was owned by the canons of the cathedral. In 1995, the garden is completely redesigned. It becomes an acclimatizing garden divided into three distinct spaces: the subtropical garden, the dry garden and the palm grove. In 2013, an overhanging plot of land is converted into a Mediterranean garden. A few steps are enough to go from the arid plains of Mexico to the sunny latitudes of the Caribbean, from the Australian bush to the shores of the Mediterranean! The south-facing exposure, the protection of the walls and a limestone soil, inherited from the ancient cemetery of the religious, guided the choice to acclimatize plant species relatively sensitive to damp cold such as palm trees, plants native to Central America and South America, from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, China or the Mediterranean region. Many species brought back from these distant lands by the navigators who planted them in their properties.
