To understand the history of the Cloister of Cadouin, it is necessary to return to its monastic origins. Located between Sarlat-la-Canéda and Bergerac, Cadouin Abbey is one of those places that go through time without losing anything of their aura. Classified as a historical monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the site once welcomed monks, pilgrims and travelers in search of spirituality on the way to Santiago de Compostela. Founded in 1115, Cadouin became the eleventh abbey attached to the Cistercian Order, known for its commitment to the Rule of st. Benedict: A life of poverty, austerity and silence.
