Frauenrouten: kommentierte Besichtigung rund um den Calvisson-Tempel
Im Rahmen des Themas 2026 "Frauenwege" wird dieser kommentierte Besuch den Platz und die Rolle der Frauen in der Geschichte des Protestantismus beleuchten.
Der Rundgang beginnt am Calvisson-Tempel in der 4 rue du Temple und führt die Besucher zur Place Jean-Cavalier, einem Ort der Auseinandersetzungen im 18. Jahrhundert während der Religionskriege. Dieser Spaziergang wird eine schmerzhafte Periode der lokalen Geschichte darstellen, von den Anfängen der Reformation um 1520 bis zu ihrer Verbreitung in Vaunage um 1560, bis zur Aufhebung des Edikts von Nantes durch Ludwig XIV. im Jahr 1685.
Das Dorf Calvisson, wie die gesamte Vaunage, war von den Religionskriegen tief geprägt.
Der zwischen 1818 und 1821 im neoklassizistischen Stil erbaute Calvisson-Tempel wurde an der Stelle des ehemaligen Tempels errichtet, der nach dem Widerruf des Edikts von Nantes zerstört worden war. Die Pläne wurden ausgeführt und der Bau wurde von Charles-Étienne Durand, dem Architekten des Departements Gard und Ingenieur für Brücken und Straßen in Nîmes, geleitet. Women’s itineraries: guided tour around the temple of Calvisson
As part of the 2026 theme, "Women’s Itineraries," this guided tour will highlight the place and role of women in the history of Protestantism.
The route will begin at the temple of Calvisson, located 4 rue du Temple, and will lead visitors to the Place Jean-Cavalier, scene of clashes in the eighteenth century during the wars of religion. This walk will evoke a painful period of local history, from the beginning of the Reformation, around 1520, to its diffusion in Vaunage around 1560, until the revocation of the edict of Nantes by Louis XIV in 1685.
The village of Calvisson, like all of Vaunage, was indeed deeply marked by the wars of religion.
Built between 1818 and 1821 in a neoclassical style, the temple of Calvisson was built on the site of the old temple, destroyed after the revocation of the edict of Nantes. The plans were carried out and the construction led by Charles-Étienne Durand, architect of the department of Gard and engineer of the Ponts et Chaussées in Nîmes. He also worked for several Gard temples, notably in Beauvoisin, Bernis, Lasalle and Vauvert, as well as for the courthouse of Nîmes. He participated in the restoration of the Maison Carrée and created many wash houses in the department.
Very massive, the temple impresses with its height, especially from rue Pradonne. Two of its facades have been restored in their original presentation, highlighting the aesthetics of stone.
Free visits to the temple will also be possible from 9:30 am to 6 pm, with an exhibition on the history of Protestantism and explanations on request.
Duration of the guided tour: less than one hour, including round trip.
Accessibility: the temple is located at the top of Temple Street. Parking is possible on the free car parks of the village. There is no public transport inside the village. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is slightly limited by a 4 cm step at the entrance.

Nell'ambito del tema 2026, "Percorsi delle donne", questa visita commentata metterà in luce il posto e il ruolo delle donne nella storia del protestantesimo.
Il percorso inizierà al tempio di Calvisson, situato in 4 rue du Temple, e porterà i visitatori fino a piazza Jean-Cavalier, teatro di scontri nel XVIII secolo durante le guerre di religione. Questa passeggiata permetterà di evocare un periodo doloroso della storia locale, dagli inizi della Riforma, verso il 1520, alla sua diffusione a Vaunage intorno al 1560, fino alla revoca dell'editto di Nantes da parte di Luigi XIV nel 1685.

Dans le cadre du thème 2026, « Itinéraires de femmes », cette visite commentée mettra en lumière la place et le rôle des femmes dans l’histoire du protestantisme.
Le parcours débutera au temple de Calvisson, situé 4 rue du Temple, et mènera les visiteurs jusqu’à la place Jean-Cavalier, théâtre d’affrontements au XVIIIe siècle pendant les guerres de religion. Cette promenade permettra d’évoquer une période douloureuse de l’histoire locale, des débuts de la Réforme, vers 1520, à sa diffusion en Vaunage autour de 1560, jusqu’à la révocation de l’édit de Nantes par Louis XIV en 1685.
