Wenn man der Route des Crêtes von Vétheuil nach La Roche Guyon folgt, entdeckt man auf dem Plateau, das die Seine überragt, das Dorf Chérence. Der Ruf von Chérence ist seit dem Mittelalter an die Qualität des aus den umliegenden Steinbrüchen gewonnenen Steines gebunden, ein Kalkstein von sehr guter Qualität, der im 14. Jahrhundert für die Mauern von Mantes verwendet wurde, im 18. Jahrhundert für die 300 Voussoirs der von Perronet errichteten Stadtbrücke und später für den Bau der Madeleine, des Triumphbogens, der Pferde der Brücke von Iéna in Paris, der Steinbrücke und der Kirche von Bon-Secours in Rouen und vieler anderer... Wir laden Sie ein, diese geschichtsträchtige Minerallandschaft zu entdecken, die vor allem die Schriftstellerin Nathalie Sarraute verführte.

Following the ridge road that goes from Vétheuil to La Roche Guyon, we discover on the plateau overlooking the Seine, the village of Chérence. The reputation of Chérence has been attached since the Middle Ages to the quality of the stone extracted from the quarries surrounding it, a limestone of very good quality, which was used in the 14th century for the ramparts of Mantes, in the 18th century for the 300 segments of the city bridge built by Perronet and then for the construction of the Madeleine, the Arc de Triomphe, the horses of the Pont d'Iéna in Paris, the stone bridge and the church of Bon-Secours in Rouen and many others... Seguendo la strada delle creste che va da Vétheuil a La Roche Guyon, scopriamo sul plateau che domina la Senna, il villaggio di Chérence. La reputazione di Chérence è legata dal Medioevo alla qualità della pietra estratta dalle cave che la circondano, un calcare di ottima qualità, che fu utilizzato nel XIV secolo per le mura di Mantes, al XVIII secolo per le 300 volte del ponte della città costruito da Perronet e poi per l'edificazione della Madeleine, dell'Arco di Trionfo, dei cavalli del ponte d'Iéna a Parigi, del ponte di pietra e della chiesa di Bon-Secours a Rouen e molti altri... Siguiendo la carretera de las crestas que va desde Vétheuil a La Roche Guyon, se descubre en la meseta que domina el Sena, el pueblo de Chérence. La reputación de Chérence está ligada desde la Edad Media a la calidad de la piedra extraída de las canteras que lo rodean, una piedra caliza de muy buena calidad, que se utilizó en el siglo XIV para las murallas de Mantes, al siglo XVIII para los 300 domos del puente de la ciudad construido por Perronet y luego para la construcción de la Madeleine, el Arco del Triunfo, los caballos del puente de Iéna en París, el puente de piedra y la iglesia de Bon-Secours en Rouen y muchos otros...
