Zum ersten Mal präsentiert das Mémorial de Caen eine Ausstellung, die dem Afrika südlich der Sahara, seiner Geschichte und seinen Künstlern gewidmet ist. Mit etwa sechzig bemerkenswerten Werken, sowohl ästhetisch als auch in ihrer Botschaft, möchte das Museum die koloniale und postkoloniale Geschichte ansprechen, wie sie von afrikanischen Künstlern gesehen wird. Diese Gemälde, Fotografien, Skulpturen, Textilien und Filme erforschen eine Arbeit des Erinnerns und der historischen Neugestaltung, die unter Berücksichtigung geografischer, politischer, kultureller, religiöser und sprachlicher Unterschiede durchgeführt wird.

For the first time, the Caen Memorial presents an exhibition dedicated to Sub-Saharan Africa, its history and its artists. Through some sixty remarkable works, both in their aesthetics and their messages, the museum wishes to address the colonial and postcolonial history as seen by African artists. These paintings, photographs, sculptures, textiles and films explore a work of memory and historical reconstruction carried out with respect for geographical, political, cultural, religious and linguistic differences.

Attraverso una sessantina di opere degne di nota, sia per l'estetica che per i messaggi, il museo vuole affrontare la storia coloniale e postcoloniale vista dagli artisti africani. Questi dipinti, fotografie, sculture, tessuti e film esplorano un lavoro di memoria e rifondazione storica condotto nel rispetto delle differenze geografiche, politiche, culturali, religiose e linguistiche.

Por primera vez, el Memorial de Caen presenta una exposición dedicada al África subsahariana, a su historia y a sus artistas. A través de unas sesenta obras notables, tanto por su estética como por sus mensajes, el museo desea abordar la historia colonial y poscolonial vista por los artistas africanos. Estas pinturas, fotografías, esculturas, textiles y películas exploran un trabajo de memoria y refundación histórica llevado a cabo respetando las diferencias geográficas, políticas, culturales, religiosas y lingüísticas.
