The Castle of Châtillon-sur-Indre is a monumental ensemble of importance, located in the center of the city of which it constitutes the heart. It consists of two associated entities: a donjon formed by a 12th-century main tower surrounded by an annular shell, and a castle enclosure comprising several buildings arranged around a central courtyard. Among these buildings, the dwelling is undoubtedly the most imposing. It was built by Pierre de La Broce, chamberlain and favourite of King Philippe III le Hardi, to whom the castellany of Châtillon was attributed in 1274\. Over the centuries, the dwelling was the subject of several alterations and additions: staircase ramp on ramp in the 15th century, monumental door and liaison pavilion in the 17th century.
