in 1920, the Mayor Abel Besançon decided to build a new town hall, intended to replace the narrow and ancient town hall of the national street, long unsuited to the demographic and administrative growth of Villefranche. But due to a construction site complicated by the nature of the ground and by the use of three successive architects, it will take no less than 4 years to see the building finally completed! It was finally Armand Chouffet who inaugurated this building in the neo-classical style in September 1928, paving the way for the urbanization of this new western district of the city.
