Through the series DEEP BLUE and INTERMITTENCES, Luis Marques invites visitors to immerse themselves in an abstract universe where line becomes landscape, rhythm, and breath.
DEEP BLUE explores the depth and vastness of imaginary seascapes. Across expansive fields of blue, delicate lines gradually build a vibrant texture. Variations in density, transparency, and thickness create contemplative landscapes that oscillate between stillness and movement.
With INTERMITTENCES, the artist adopts a more experimental approach. The drawings emerge on reclaimed sheets of paper originating from his screen-printing tests, already marked by traces, accidents, and stains. By reworking these surfaces through a patient process of repeated lines, he brings chance into dialogue with the precision of gesture, offering these materials a second life.
The exhibition proposes an inner journey in which each work evokes a sensitive cartography. Line after line, drawing becomes a meditation on time, repetition, memory, and the fragile balance between control and letting go.

Portuguese artist and architect Luis Marques was born in 1984 and lives in Geneva.
Alongside his professional work at the Department of Territory, he has developed an artistic practice centred on drawing.
His work explores the line as both a meditative and introspective language. Using pens, markers, and even sewing thread, he slowly constructs compositions in which every gesture becomes part of a ritual. His supports are often reclaimed or recycled: paper, cardboard, torn fragments, or materials already carrying their own history. This attention to the support creates an ongoing dialogue between memory, transformation, and creation.
His works arise from the meeting between the precision of the line and the unpredictability of material accidents. This tension between control and spontaneity gives rise to what the artist describes as "inner territories" or "topographies of intimacy."
