Visit of the Château de Mangy-en-Bessin (Calvados, between Bayeux and Arromanches-les-Bains) organized by the Association de sauvegarde du château de Magny-en-Bessin
The estate and the castle of Magny-en-Bessin (Calvados), masterpiece of the early eighteenth century severely damaged, will be exceptionally open for visits in the following conditions:
The estate will be open for four guided tours of approximately one and a half hours each:
• Saturday, September 19 at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm
• Sunday 20 September at 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Access will be via the gate, road to Sommervieu, 14400 Magny-en-Bessin. Parking will take place outside, in front of the church or on the wooded side of the Sommervieu road. The gate will be closed outside access for visits. The visits are planned for groups of up to 15 people, on prior registration nominative to the email address: sauvegarde.magny@gmail.com. Beyond 15, there will be, if possible, an alternative time available by e-mail. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The visits will be free, directed and commented by Hervé Baptiste, Honorary Chief Architect of Historic Monuments (honorary), President of the Association of Safeguarding of the Castle of Magny-en-Bessin.
 The visits will include that of the park, the exteriors of the castle, the common (Great Stables, carriage sheds, greenhouse, High Justice building and kitchens, agricultural buildings, etc.), the kennel, the horse bath, the orchard «in chartreuse» and the ponds. For security reasons, access to the interior of the buildings is prohibited.
 Provide pants and good shoes (an umbrella is an accessory…). Wearing the anti-Covid19 mask is welcome and safety distances must be respected. There are no toilets on site.
The castle is located in the groves, on the road to Sommervieu, at the western entrance of the village of Magny-en-Bessin. From the main road Bayeux-Arromanches (D. 516), between Pouligny and La Rosière, take towards the east the small signposted road «Magny-en-Bessin». The entrance to the estate is a few hundred meters on the left.
