Geological and paleontological maritime heritage of Normandy
For more than 500 million years, Normandy has known a turbulent geological history, much of which took place under water. Environmental changes, recorded in marine sediments, have pushed animal and plant organisms to adapt to evolution. Today, the rocks and fossils of Normandy tell us their secrets and tell us the exciting story of our region. Lush tropical seas, great glaciations, surrection of mountain ranges... During a trip to the far reaches of time in the Geology Museum of the University of Caen Normandie, come and admire unique specimens of sedimentary rocks, corals, trilobites, ammonites, marine reptiles and dinosaurs, witnesses the comings and goings of the sea and the evolution of marine life.
