Sunday, September 22 from 4 pm to 5 pm: «The Press in the Calvados from the Occupation to the Liberation: what the archives say and what they do not say.» by Julie Deslondes, Director of the Calvados Archives.
What did the Calvados read during the Occupation and the Battle of Normandy? What information did they receive or not from the newspapers, and how did journalists work during this period? While academic work has been carried out from the collections available long before the full opening of the public archives, mysteries and questions remain. Julie Deslondes looks back on this story through a presentation of the collections held at the Archives du Calvados, whether the press copies themselves or the public archives of the Prefecture and Purification.
As part of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and the Battle of Normandy, the Calvados Archives are organizing a Great Collection of Archives on the Second World War and Reconstruction. In connection with this conference, a presentation of original press issues kept at the Archives du Calvados will be offered in the exhibition room on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. Among the issues presented, exceptional donations recently received will be visible. The opportunity to highlight the collection work done by the archivists and a way to thank the donors who have placed their trust in us.
