The Archives du Val-de-Marne offer a retrospective of their photographic collections on the theme of everyday life.
Composed of two hundred pieces, from 1840 to 2020, on all media: from the daguerreotype made by Daguerre in person to ultra-contemporary digital files, including shots by Willy Ronis, albums of family photographs, the exhibition traces the history of a social practice, at the heart of issues related to transmission and the construction of identities, ever more deeply rooted in everyday life up to omnipresence, until it becomes one with the definition of the society in which it is deployed, a so-called "image" society. She will decipher its languages, uses, and vocations.
As for the traces of this practice preserved in the archives under "documents", raw material for historians, they contribute to forming the soil of collective memory. How? What are the limits?
