Urban reflections

The exhibition Urban reflections brings together the founders and collaborators of the association Openeye, today’s look at photography based in Strasbourg, which publishes the eponymous photo magazine internationally recognized for its editorial quality and awarded in the Media Production category at the 2024 Netty Awards.
A passionate and committed team in the dissemination of contemporary photography, themselves followers of street photography and who bear witness to a practice rich in life experiences, encounters and fortuitous events magnified by photography.
The exhibition Urban reflections will be an opportunity to meet people around two complementary and distinct areas of the photographic universe: understanding street photography, which relies on the photographer’s gaze, his ability to compose, capturing an evocative moment that stands out and goes beyond its documentary qualities to become an art that everyone can appropriate.
This exhibition will also be an opportunity to exchange with the members of the Openeye team about their editorial experience of photography at an international level.
Pierre Evrard has been practicing photography for more than 40 years and participates in numerous exhibitions in France and abroad.
He founded, 8 years ago, with Philippe Litzler the webphoto magazine Openeye.
The five images presented in the exhibition are taken from a series entitled The child in the city which favors very lively urban atmospheres in which a child or two fits into it on the spot.
Philippe Litzler took courses with Allan Porter, the editor-in-chief of the legendary magazine Camera, at the University of Basel, which strongly influenced his graphic approach to the presentation of a photo magazine.
Editor in chief of the magazine Photo Switzerland of the Swiss Federation of Photography, he was also the editor of the French part of the Revue Suisse de Photographie, the magazine of Swiss Professionals.
Meanwhile, he held the position of columnist for the Geneva magazine Photo -Cine-Expert and for the monthly Photo Selection in Quebec.
He was also the editor of the magazine France Photographie, of which he produced 45 issues, until June 2016.
In May 2016, he was invited to exhibit his photographic work at the National Library of Beijing.
He is the co-founder and editor of the magazine Openeye.
His photographic approach strives to have a certain transfiguration of everyday life. Bearing witness to his many travels, the series Urban reflections expresses a subtle look at the urban world and, through the prism of photography, comes to capture its mysteries and silences.
Jacky Martin was president of the Photographic Federation (FPF) of France in 1990 (until 2000). Member of the Board of Directors of FIAP in 1997, he held the positions of Director of the Biennial Service, Director of the Club World Cup, Manager of the Paris headquarters of FIAP and finally Vice-President from 2010 to 2014.
An itinerant photographer, he obtained the title MFIAP. He is currently collaborating on the webmagazine Openeye since its creation in 2017.
He presents the series A Dog’s Life, which presents itself, not without humor, as a canine bestiary in an urban environment.
Julien Mazzoni has been a director in many photographic associations, including the French Federation of Photography (FPF) and now at Openeye as public relations manager.
He calls himself a humanist photographer, street photography being for him the place where he best expresses his interest in people in urban areas.
In the series Footsteps in the city , it gives the idea of a perpetual movement and captures passersby at leg height. Their steps leading them frantically from one point to another with no other goal, a priori, than to arrive on time.
