Sophie Calle, Künstlerin und Fotografin, geboren 1953 in Paris, hat eine sofort erkennbare Praxis entwickelt, die den Text mit der Fotografie verbindet. Sie verwischt in ihren Ritualen die Grenzen zwischen dem Inneren und dem Öffentlichen, Realität und Fiktion, Kunst und Leben, während sie dem Zufall Raum lässt.
"The Bronx" ist eine Serie von Fotografien, die von Items Éditions herausgegeben und 2019 von der Artothek Brest erworben wurde. Jedes Foto ist mit einem Text versehen, der die 8-tägige Erkundung des Bronx-Viertels durch die Fotografin und ihre Begegnung mit Passanten und Besuchern beschreibt.
Diese Serie besteht aus 8 digitalen Auflagen. Die in englischer Sprache verfassten Texte werden mit einer französischen Übersetzung versehen, um die Zugänglichkeit der Ausstellung für alle Zielgruppen zu fördern.
Diese Werke sind in den öffentlichen Räumen der Mediathek von Bellevue ausgestellt.

Sophie Calle, an artist and photographer born in 1953 in Paris, has developed an instantly recognizable practice that combines text with photography. Through her rituals, she blurs the boundaries between the private and the public, reality and fiction, art and life, while leaving room for chance.
“The Bronx” is a series of photographs published by Items Éditions and acquired by the Artothèque de Brest in 2019. Each photograph is accompanied by a text that recounts the photographer’s exploration of the Bronx neighborhood over the course of eight days and her encounters with passersby and visitors.
This series consists of eight digital prints on paper accompanied by their texts; each work measures 24 x 32.5 cm. The texts, written in English, will be translated into French to make the exhibition accessible to all audiences.
These works will be displayed directly in the public spaces of the Bellevue Media Library to reach as many users as possible, and will be featured in guided tours.
