Die Pause
Eine spontane, leichte und verankerte Veranstaltung: Vorführung, Taschentheater, Fotokaraoke. Die Obscura Machine lässt ihre Archive von einem Gebiet zum anderen reisen - Porträts, Bilder, Spuren von Residenzen - und bringt sie in Resonanz mit dem durchquerten Ort. Im Mittelpunkt jedes Stopps: die Begegnung mit den Bewohnern, das gemeinsam gemachte Foto, der gemeinsame Gestus der Schöpfung.

Dieser Zwischenstopp bietet eine Rückgabe am Freitag, den 21. Mai von 18 bis 20 Uhr im Arthur-Batut-Museum an. Dieser Moment ermöglicht es dem Publikum, die während des Zwischenstopps in Labruguière und auch während der vorherigen Künstlerresidenz im Zentrum für Fotografie von Mougins entstandenen Kreationen zu entdecken.
Seit 2020 durchqueren die beiden Künstler Romain Cavallin und Matthieu Cauchy einen Teil Nordfrankreichs und Belgiens an Bord eines Lieferwagens, der in eine Kamera umgewandelt wurde: die Obscura Machine. Sie ist mit einem in die Hintertür eingelassenen Bildaufnahmesystem ausgestattet, ähnlich einer Dunkelkamera und einem traditionellen Schwarz-Weiß/Farb-Filmlabor. Seit 2022 hat sich der Klangkünstler Taïssai Froidure dem Projekt angeschlossen. Mit ihren Mikros befragt sie die Bewohner und sammelt ihre Zeugnisse. Die Obscura-Maschine ist ein echtes Werkzeug zur Erstellung von Bildern, Dokumentation, Vermittlung, Austausch, Produktion von In-situ-Ausstellungen und Bearbeitung. Indem sie das Gebiet erkunden und die Bewohner treffen, kehren die drei Künstler so in die Tradition der Fotografen des 19. Jahrhunderts zurück, die von Dorf zu Dorf gingen und das tägliche Leben verlängerten. Diese künstlerische Präsenz ist die Gelegenheit, einen echten Raum der Vermittlung und des Schaffens mit den Bewohnern ländlicher Gebiete zu bieten. Dieser Austausch ist das Mittel für die Künstler, direkt mit den Bewohnern in Kontakt zu treten und ein lebendiges Gedächtnis dieses Gebiets aufzubauen. Das Ziel der Pause von Obscura Machine in Labruguière ist es, den Begriff des typischen Porträts zu erweitern, indem es den Bewohnern und Bewohnern anbietet, eine Verbindung zu den Künstlern rund um die Fotografie herzustellen.
Dieses Projekt wird im Rahmen der Traversée Photographique durchgeführt, einem Veranstaltungsprogramm, das vom Netzwerk Diagonal vorgeschlagen wurde und vom Ministerium für Kultur als Bicentenaire de la Photographie ausgezeichnet wurde. Es ist Teil des offiziellen Programms vom 1. September 2026 bis zum 30. September 2027.

The Halt
An impromptu, light and anchored event: projection, pocket theatre, photo karaoke. The Obscura Machine makes its archives travel from one territory to another—portraits, images, traces of residences—and puts them in resonance with the place crossed. At the heart of each stop: the meeting with the inhabitants, the photograph taken together, the shared creative gesture.

This stop offers a return time on Friday, May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arthur Batut Museum. This moment allows the public to discover the creations made during the stop in Labruguière but also during the previous residence of the artists at the Centre de la photographie de Mougins.
Since 2020, the two artists Romain Cavallin and Matthieu Cauchy have traveled through parts of northern France and Belgium aboard a van transformed into a camera, the Obscura Machine. It is equipped with a shooting system built into the rear door, like a camera obscura and a traditional black and white/ color film laboratory. Since 2022, sound artist Taïssai Froidure has joined the project. With her microphones, she questions the inhabitants and collects their testimonies. The Obscura Machine is a real tool for creating images, documenting, mediating, sharing, producing in situ exhibitions and publishing. By setting out to discover the territory and meet the inhabitants, the three artists are thus reviving the tradition of 19th century photographers who, passing from village to village, perpetuated daily life. This artistic presence is an opportunity to offer a real space for mediation and creation with the inhabitants of rural territories. These exchanges are the means for artists to directly come into contact with the inhabitants and build a living memory of this territory. The goal of the Obscura Machine stop in Labruguière is to broaden the notion of a typical portrait by offering residents and inhabitants the chance to create links with artists around photography.
This project is carried out as part of the Traversée Photographique, an event program proposed by the Diagonal network and labeled Bicentenaire de la Photographie by the Ministry of Culture. It forms part of the official programming from September 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027.

Una manifestazione improvvisata, leggera e radicata: proiezione, teatro tascabile, karaoke fotografico. L'Obscura Machine fa viaggiare i suoi archivi da un territorio all'altro - ritratti, immagini, tracce di residenze - e li mette in risonanza con il luogo attraversato. Al centro di ogni sosta: l'incontro con gli abitanti, la fotografia fatta insieme, il gesto di creazione condivisa.

Questa sosta propone un orario di riconsegna il venerdì 21 maggio dalle 18 alle 20 al museo Arthur Batut. Questo momento permette al pubblico di scoprire le creazioni realizzate durante la sosta a Labruguière, ma anche durante la precedente residenza degli artisti presso il Centro della fotografia di Mougins.
Dal 2020, i due artisti Romain Cavallin e Matthieu Cauchy hanno attraversato una parte del nord della Francia e del Belgio a bordo di un furgone trasformato in macchina fotografica, la Obscura Machine. È dotata di un sistema di ripresa incassato nella porta posteriore, come una camera oscura e un laboratorio cinematografico tradizionale in bianco e nero/a colori. Dal 2022, l'artista del suono Taïssai Froidure si è unito al progetto. Con i suoi microfoni, interroga gli abitanti e raccoglie le loro testimonianze. La Obscura Machine è un vero e proprio strumento di creazione d'immagini, di documentazione, di mediazione, di condivisione, di produzione d'esposizioni in situ e di edizione. Partendo alla scoperta del territorio per incontrare gli abitanti, i tre artisti riprendono così la tradizione dei fotografi del XIX secolo che, passando da un villaggio all'altro, eternizzavano la vita quotidiana. Questa presenza artistica è l'occasione per offrire un vero spazio di mediazione e creazione con gli abitanti dei territori rurali. Questi scambi sono il mezzo per gli artisti di entrare direttamente in contatto con gli abitanti e costruire una memoria viva di questo territorio. L'obiettivo della tappa di Obscura Machine a Labruguière è quello di ampliare la nozione di ritratto tipo, proponendo agli abitanti e ai residenti di creare un legame con gli artisti intorno alla fotografia.
Questo progetto è realizzato nell'ambito della Traversée Photographique, un programma di eventi proposto dalla rete Diagonal etichettata Bicentenaire de la Photographie dal Ministero della Cultura e inserito nella programmazione ufficiale dal 1o settembre 2026 al 30 settembre 2027.

La Halte
Une manifestation impromptu, légère et ancrée : projection, théâtre de poche, karaoké photo. L'Obscura Machine fait voyager ses archives d'un territoire à un autre — portraits, images, traces de résidences — et les met en résonance avec le lieu traversé. Au cœur de chaque halte : la rencontre avec les habitants, la photographie faite ensemble, le geste de création partagé.

Cette halte propose un temps de restitution le vendredi 21 mai de 18h à 20h au musée Arthur Batut. Ce moment permet au public de découvrir les créations réalisées lors de la halte à Labruguière mais aussi lors de la précédente résidence des artistes au Centre de la photographie de Mougins.
Depuis 2020, les deux artistes Romain Cavallin et Matthieu Cauchy ont sillonné une partie du nord de la France et de la Belgique à bord d’une camionnette transformée en appareil photo, la Obscura Machine. Elle est équipée d’un système de prise de vue encastré dans la porte arrière, à la manière d’une caméra obscura et d’un laboratoire argentique traditionnel Noir et Blanc/ Couleur. Depuis 2022, l’artiste sonore Taïssai Froidure a rejoint le projet. Avec ses micros, elle questionne les habitant·e·s et récolte leurs témoignages. La Obscura Machine est un véritable outil de création d’images, de documentation, de médiation, de partage, de production d’expositions in situ et d’édition. En partant à la découverte du territoire à la rencontre des habitant·e·s, les trois artistes renouent ainsi avec la tradition des photographes du 19ème siècle qui, passant de villages en villages, éternisaient la vie quotidienne. Cette présence artistique est l’occasion d’offrir un vrai espace de médiation et de création avec les habitant·e·s de territoires ruraux. Ces échanges sont le moyen pour les artistes d’entrer directement en contact avec les habitants et de construire une mémoire vivante de ce territoire. L’objectif de la halte d'Obscura Machine à Labruguière est d’élargir la notion de portrait type en proposant aux habitantes et habitant·e·s de créer du lien avec les artistes autour de la photographie.
Ce projet est réalisé dans le cadre de la Traversée Photographique, un programme d'évènements proposé par le réseau Diagonal labellisé Bicentenaire de la Photographie par le ministère de la Culture et s'inscrit dans la programmation officielle du 1er septembre 2026 au 30 septembre 2027.

La Halte
Una manifestación improvisada, ligera y arraigada: proyección, teatro de bolsillo, karaoke fotográfico. La Obscura Machine hace viajar sus archivos de un territorio a otro -retratos, imágenes, huellas de residencias- y los pone en resonancia con el lugar atravesado. En el corazón de cada parada: el encuentro con los habitantes, la fotografía hecha juntos, el gesto de creación compartida.

Esta parada propone un tiempo de devolución el viernes 21 de mayo de 18h a 20h en el museo Arthur Batut. Este momento permite al público descubrir las creaciones realizadas durante la parada en Labruguière, pero también durante la anterior residencia de artistas en el Centro de la fotografía de Mougins.
Desde 2020, los dos artistas Romain Cavallin y Matthieu Cauchy han recorrido parte del norte de Francia y Bélgica a bordo de una furgoneta transformada en cámara, la Obscura Machine. Está equipada con un sistema de toma de imágenes integrado en la puerta trasera, al estilo de una cámara oscura y un laboratorio de cine tradicional en blanco y negro/color. Desde 2022, el artista de sonido Taïssai Froidure se ha unido al proyecto. Con sus micros, ella interroga a los habitantes y recoge sus testimonios. La Obscura Machine es una verdadera herramienta de creación de imágenes, documentación, mediación, intercambio, producción de exposiciones in situ y edición. Al partir a descubrir el territorio y conocer a los habitantes, los tres artistas retoman así la tradición de los fotógrafos del siglo XIX que, pasando de pueblo en pueblo, eternizaban la vida cotidiana. Esta presencia artística es la oportunidad de ofrecer un verdadero espacio de mediación y creación con los habitantes de territorios rurales. Estos intercambios son el medio para que los artistas entren en contacto directo con los habitantes y construyan una memoria viva de este territorio. El objetivo de la parada de Obscura Machine en Labruguière es ampliar la noción de retrato tipo al proponer a los habitantes y residentes crear un vínculo con los artistas alrededor de la fotografía.
Este proyecto se realiza en el marco de la Travesía Fotográfica, un programa de eventos propuesto por la red Diagonal etiquetado como Bicentenario de la Fotografía por el Ministerio de Cultura y se inscribe en la programación oficial del 1 de septiembre de 2026 al 30 de septiembre de 2027.
