Plan A
Plan A
Meeting of a comic book publishing house and a public collection of contemporary art
The Association, through its editorial line respectful of the singularity of authors and promoting an experimental comic book, shares the artistic and cultural stakes of the FRAC Poitou-Charentes. Part of the field of thought of the relationship between comic books and contemporary art, the exhibition Plan A proposes to articulate all aspects of the activity of an independent publishing house and a public collection of contemporary art.
Jochen Gerner, artist to whom L'Association has opened, by publishing it, the creative field proper to the book and the experimental comic, shares with Alexandre Bohn, director of FRAC Poitou-Charentes, the curator of this exhibition. Starting from works chosen from the collection to summon objects of the Association, they took the position of mixing, on the same level of value, original cartoon plates, books, printed documents, elements of the editorial process and works from the collection. All the parts involved are linked by attention to documentation, text, drawing (line, inking, colour, etc.) and reveal visual, narrative, and conceptual correspondences.
The exhibition, eclectic as to the pieces presented, also reflects the great diversity of aesthetics defended by both the Association and the FRAC Poitou-Charentes. The exhibition is as spectacular and jubilatory as it is rigorous and documented. Plan A aims to make lovers of contemporary art love comic books, reciprocally, and not only.
