Andy Summers, guitarist for The Police, is also a composer, photographer and author. With 'Harmonics of the Night' he presents a solo multimedia performance with tracks from his solo albums and The Police. The artist also presents several of his photographs, an incredible journey through time and space.
Andy Summers rose to legendary guitarist status in the early 80s with his legendary band The Police. Inspiring a whole generation of musicians, his innovative style created a new paradigm for guitarists of this period. After the group ended, Summers continued a prolific career as a solo artist: multiple albums in different styles (bossa nova, jazz), photography exhibitions, numerous tours and film soundtracks (including The Tramp of Beverly Hills).
His latest album “Harmonics of the Night”, released in October 2021, is the last part of a trilogy of recordings (preceded by “Metal Dog” and “Triboluminescence”). Summers explains: “The music for “Harmonics of the Night” comes from a particular moment during a retrospective exhibition of my photos at the Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier.
I could visit the museum before it opened to the public and decided this time that I had to produce a musical installation to accompany my photos on the walls. I improvised for 20 minutes. »
