Destined for an industrial building from the 19th century to the present day
An exhibition traces the crafts and industrial activities in a building in the Madeleine district of Albi. The building built around 1800 houses the teams of travelers housed at the Auberge des 3 Pigeons located in the current street Porta. In 1875, the inn was sold and transformed into a hat factory. A vestige of this activity, which lasted until the 1920s, a brick chimney remains in the courtyard of the building, the last industrial chimney of the protected perimeter of Albi still standing. In 1946 and until 1971, the place was occupied by the Master Bodybuilder Albert Mazel, creator of the bodywork of the famous blue monoplaces MEP. The Ramade furniture workshop then settles there before joining the Lamothe mill. The building is currently being renovated to accommodate a contemporary art gallery.
