Straight lines, geometric figures, a clean style… Art Deco is at the table in Sarreguemines!
This world-famous style, which touched all areas of architecture to the decorative arts, did not escape the Faience of Sarreguemines which largely declined in its production, especially on the table services produced since the 1910s.
The creators of the manufacture, influenced by the work of Parisian artists – sometimes avant-garde - rediscovered after 1918 as well as by the designers who came or trained in Germany during the Annexation, were able to elaborate many decorations and forms to satisfy their customers during the interwar period. The works and sketches of renowned artists such as Jean Luce, among others, will rub shoulders with the exceptional work of all industrial designers, today anonymous and yet essential to the influence of the Faience of Sarreguemines...
As part of the Night of Museums, between 6pm and midnight, the Sarreguemines Museums will offer guided tours of the temporary exhibition.
